Golden prospects for Rocky growth

ROCKHAMPTON has three golden opportunities to build a bigger population, an economics expert says.

CQUniversity professor of regional economic development John Rolfe said new population projections released recently were higher than previously expected.

New Office of Economic and Statistical research shows Rockhampton’s population is expected to increase by more than 20,000 people by 2021.

Cities growth plan launched

THE federal government has unveiled its blueprint for the future of the nation’s 18 largest cities with a warning that it’s prepared to “intimidate” opponents if necessary.

The National Urban Policy, released by federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese today, sets out a broad range of principles designed to underpin long-term urban growth and improve productivity.

Population growth is key issue

FLYNN needs a seat at the Prime Minister’s table, says sitting member Chris Trevor who is off and running for the federal election on August 21.

“The Prime Minister has blown the whistle and it’s game on. I’ve been working extremely hard for this for the past two-and-a-half years so I’m more than ready,” Mr Trevor said in a press release yesterday.
